Yesterday I went to lunch with Dr. Jane Stephens, former University provost, and long time friend of my recently deceased sister, Dr. Jennie Cooper! We talked for over two hours about everything including Jennie and trying to make the pieces of both our lives fit together again! Life is filled with Humpty Dumpty days!
Diana Butler Bass, the theologian, writes: "Grieving people try to connect, to remember who came before and what the past means for them as they go forward! It's about discovering who you are after loss!" And she adds, "It is a very normal thing to do!"
So we will keep remembering and learning how we want to "reframe" the memories! Some I intend to remember so long as I have memory. Like when she was the drum major at Charleston and how she could clear the dance floor when she got up to jitterbug!
