Jim Cooper's Birthday
Today would have been my brother, Dr. James Cooper's, birthday! Not that we were beseiged by presents but Mama always made us a cake and was it ever good.
Jim never had to wash or dry dishes. That was the work of Janie and Rose Marie. Jim's work was to sometimes fill the stoker and milk the cow every night in the barn. There is no way of knowing how much crap he carried in on the milk bucket. No problem. Mama had scalded everything and she strained the milk with a clean cloth.
We had a good time together with the Sunday afternoon Cooper ballet company. Thanks, Jim, for the memories of growing up together with you! I always hoped that you would not throw a fit and murder me with your temper! Rose Marie had it far easier; you did not want to hurt her hands!
